12. How much would it cost to implement wind power to produce all of the United State’s electricity?

According to Charles Komanoff of Komanoff Energy Associates, it would require about 400,000 giant turbines, each producing 2.5 megawatts, to supply 100% of our country’s electric power demands.   We at L.E.A.R.N. have calculated that this would cost about $275 billion.  That’s a one-time cost of about $1,000 for every man, woman, and child in the United States.   That’s less than the average annual household electric bill!

What are we waiting for?
